Week 1:
1. My name is Josh Reimer. I was born on May 1st,1900. I am in school right now and we are talking about militarism. I decided to say something about how France and Germany had really strong militaries and how they are on different sides. I could feel the tension rising in the classroom. The only reason that my nation got involved in this war is because the Serbs decided to kill the Arch Duke of Austria Hungary. They didn't like the decisions he was making. After the assassination, Austria Hungary declared war on the Serbs so my country had to get involved in the war. The Serbs thought it would be a quick and easy victory but when they saw that we were helping Austria Hungary, they thought otherwise. What they didn't know, was the war would last for about 10 years.
2. I did not react well to the attack of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. I am fighting for Italy and we are in an alliance with Austria-Hungary. The Black Hand had tried a few times to kill him but it didn't work. A terrorist threw a bomb at his car. The bomb bounced off his wifes bonnet and exploded by another car injuring 20 people. The bomber tried to commit suicide a couple ofways, but neither of them worked. First, he tried to swallow a cyanide pill which only made him vomit because it was out of date. Then, he tried to jump in the river, but what he didn't know was that it was only four inches deep. I didn't like it because the black hand was from Serbia and they were part of the allies. Austria-Hungary, later declared war on Serbia. This is when I got involved.
Week 2:
1.In this war we will use many weapons. One of the most effective is the machine gun. It can mow many people down at a time. That was the reason that the trenches were stalemates many times. Another effective thing that we will use is artillery. That is where planes fly overhead and drop bombs on the enemies. Another useful thing is the bayonet, it was a knife on the end of a gun to help kill people at further distances. The Central Plans battle plan will be to use more effective weapons and better tactics to hopefully end the war by Christmas time. We really want to be with our family and kids on Christmas.
2.The poster that I chose was aimed at me. The goal of the poster is to recruit people to the British Army. They are fighting for the allies and I am fighting for the Central Powers. There are many techniques used in this poster they are name calling of and a catchy slogan.
3.Russia's exit and USA's entry was very big. The USA is a more advanced country than Russia. They can bring new and improved weapons to help the allies. The USA also has a lot stronger army than the Russians do. I think that this will effect the war a lot. I am starting to doubt whether we can win or not because USA is just a better country all around than anybody here. I am really scared that I might die, but I know if I do die I will die fighting for my country. I guess their is no better way to die.
Week 3:
1. On Christmas day, my army, the Central Powers decided to come out of the trenches and take a chance. We walked up to the enemy and they didn't shoot us. Even though we had no weapons. I started talking to them and I traded chocolate with them. I actually found out they were pretty nice people. We also had a soccer game. But the next day it was back to business in the trenches killing all the enemies.
Week 4:
1. I am very dissappointed with the treaty of Versailles. I didn't like it because my country had a secret alliance with the allies and they didn't give us the land that they had promised. I do agree that Germany should have had to pay 30 billion dollars. since they started the war. The first place they invaded was Belgium. My country was lied to the whole time. We didn't even see it coming, but we should have known because we killed so many of the allies.
